The 10 best ASO tools in 2026, compared

An App Store Optimization (ASO) tool is software that helps an app rank higher in App Store and Google Play search. It tracks where the app ranks for each keyword, estimates how often people search for those keywords, watches competitors’ listings and reviews, and shows which metadata changes moved the rankings.

Written by the AsoBeast team. Updated .

Disclosure: we make AsoBeast, so it is listed first. The other 9 tools follow in alphabetical order. No vendor paid to be listed and no link earns a commission. Every fact about another tool comes from that tool’s own website or docs, on the date shown in the sources.

Method

How we compared these ASO tools

  • We picked the 9 tools that come up most often in search results for “ASO tools” and in the leading “best ASO tools” roundups, and added AsoBeast because we make it.
  • Every fact about another tool comes from its own pricing page, docs, help center or repository, read on the date shown next to its sources. We took no facts from review sites or other roundups. Where a vendor does not publish a detail, the table says so instead of guessing.
  • Entry price is the cheapest plan that tracks keyword rankings, billed monthly where the vendor offers it, before tax and in the currency the vendor shows. A cheaper plan without keyword tracking does not count.
  • The reviews summarize what each vendor publishes about price, limits and features. They are not benchmarks of data accuracy.
  • The updated date at the top is the latest day we checked a vendor’s pages. If a fact here is wrong or out of date, write to support@asobeast.com and we will correct it.

Questions

ASO tool questions, answered

What is the best ASO tool?

It depends on the job. AsoBeast suits daily rankings on both stores on a small budget, at $10 a month. Sensor Tower and AppTweak suit teams that need downloads, revenue and ad data on any app. Astro, at $108 a year, covers the App Store alone from one Mac, and AppFollow fits teams that reply to many reviews.

What is the best free ASO tool?

AsoBeast, self-hosted. The software is free under AGPL-3.0, with every feature, both stores and no plan limits, and runs with Docker on your own server. The hosted version has a 7-day trial with no card. RespectASO is a free Mac app for App Store keyword research, with its Pro features sold separately.

Is there an open source ASO tool?

Yes. AsoBeast is open source under AGPL-3.0 with no open core, so the hosted service runs the same code you can self-host, for both stores. RespectASO is an AGPL-3.0 Mac app for App Store keyword research whose Pro features are closed. AppStoreCat, under the MIT licence, tracks listing changes and top charts but not keyword rankings.

Which ASO tools have an MCP server?

AsoBeast, Sonar, Appfigures and AppFollow run hosted MCP servers. AsoBeast’s has 27 read tools and 5 opt-in write tools on every plan and the trial, with no credits, and AppFollow’s uses API credits. AppTweak, MobileAction and Sensor Tower offer theirs only with an API plan or subscription. Astro and ASO.dev run local servers, and ASO.dev’s leaves out keyword data. App Radar does not list one.

Which ASO tools include an API?

AsoBeast includes its REST API on every plan, with 40,000 requests a day on Indie. Sonar, Appfigures and AppFollow include one too, metered with credits for some data. AppTweak sells API plans from $199 a month, App Radar sells its API as an add-on, MobileAction and Sensor Tower quote it separately, and ASO.dev’s is a closed alpha.

How much does an ASO tool cost?

Entry plans with keyword tracking start at $10 a month for AsoBeast and $15 for MobileAction Lite, and reach $99 for AppTweak Essential and €69 for App Radar Essentials. Astro costs $108 a year. Sensor Tower quotes a price after a demo. Per-seat pricing, paid competitors and API credits can raise the real cost.

Do I need an ASO tool that covers both the App Store and Google Play?

Only if you publish on both. Astro covers the App Store only, and ASO.dev lists Google Play rankings as coming soon. AsoBeast, App Radar, Appfigures, AppFollow, AppTweak, MobileAction, Sensor Tower, and Sonar track both stores.

How deep and how often should an ASO tool check rankings?

Daily checks suit most ASO work, because rankings take days to settle after a metadata update. Depth matters most for new apps, which start far down the results. AsoBeast checks to position 200, App Radar to 250 and AppFollow to 100, so a climbing keyword shows up before it reaches the first page. Appfigures checks hourly from Optimize and ASO.dev every 4 hours.

Can I self-host an ASO tool?

Yes. AsoBeast runs on your own server with Docker Compose, free and with no plan limits. Needs Docker, about 2.5 GB of memory and 5 GB of disk. No account with anyone. RespectASO’s free features also run in Docker, and AppStoreCat is self-hosted, without keyword rank tracking.
